Chipotle Double Chicken Calories & Protein: Examples

See how adding a second published chicken portion changes calories, protein and sodium in Chipotle bowls and burritos.

“Double chicken” sounds like one simple upgrade, but its impact depends on the rest of the meal. Our model assumes two standard 4 oz published chicken portions. That is an arithmetic scenario, not a promise that a particular restaurant will serve exactly eight ounces.

What does the second serving contribute?

Chipotle's paper guide lists one 4 oz chicken serving at 180 calories, 32 g protein, 7 g fat and 310 mg sodium. Doubling that published portion results in 360 calories, 64 g protein and 620 mg sodium from chicken alone. The rest of the order must be added separately.

Three complete build comparisons

IngredientServingCaloriesProteinCarbsSodium
Chicken, beans, fajitas (no rice)Chicken, Black beans, Fajita vegetables33041 g27 g670 mg
Double chicken, beans, fajitasChicken, Chicken, Black beans, Fajita vegetables51073 g27 g980 mg
Chicken, brown rice, beans, fajitasChicken, Cilantro-lime brown rice, Black beans, Fajita vegetables54045 g63 g860 mg
Double chicken, brown rice, beans, fajitasChicken, Chicken, Cilantro-lime brown rice, Black beans, Fajita vegetables72077 g63 g1170 mg

The rice-free double-chicken bowl gives 73 g protein and 510 calories under these assumptions. The version with brown rice rises to 720 calories. A “high-protein” label therefore says very little about whether the meal fits a particular calorie ceiling.

Is double chicken necessary for 40 g of protein?

Not for every build. Standard chicken plus black beans, brown rice and fajita vegetables already sums to 45 g protein. Removing rice lowers the calculated calories but also removes 4 g protein. The right choice depends on the full order rather than a blanket recommendation to double the meat.

Don't forget sodium and cost

The second 4 oz serving adds another 310 mg sodium in the published table. Restaurant pricing for extra chicken varies by location and time and is not modeled in our nutrition tool. If you want to compare the result with steak or sofritas, use the ingredient calculator. If you're specifically aiming under a calorie limit, see our high-protein under-600 guide.
