How we calculate restaurant nutrition

Every number should have a source, a serving size, and a clear limit. Here is our published-data methodology.

Published source editions

Chipotle — US paper guide, 3-202525 curated ingredients in the launch dataset; serving sizes as printed. Not a claim that all recipes are unchanged in November 2026.

Our calculations

For each ingredient, the site stores calories, protein, carbs, fat, sodium, sugar and fiber per published serving. When you build an order, it adds those values together. Two servings of protein multiply the published single portion by two; taco format counts three tortillas. For salad format, it adds the listed greens base, and for burrito format it adds the published tortilla. A bowl begins with no tortilla.

Individual ingredient values are rounded by their restaurants. Therefore, summing them can differ from an officially listed complete entrée by a small amount; this isn't a laboratory calculation. The optimizer only combines ingredients from the curated dataset and filters combinations against the limits you choose. Its ranking is our own heuristic based on protein density, protein amount, calorie allowance and sodium—not a clinically validated health score.

What we will not claim

  • We do not guarantee the values of food actually served at a specific store.
  • We do not certify any combination as safe for a food allergy, celiac disease, or medical dietary restriction.
  • We do not generate nutrient values for an ingredient absent from the published source.
  • We do not present old source editions as freshly published data.
  • We do not automatically treat macro ratios as a universal measure of health.

Source update process

For each source refresh, compare stored numbers to the newest official chain guide. Record its publication date, verify serving size and values, document changed recipes, rerun numeric tests, and update the displayed edition. Repeat after major menu launches and at least monthly during active publication. A source edition is a record of the document used—not proof that the restaurant menu is current.

Corrections and editorial accountability

Data were curated for the edition published November 8, 2026. We distinguish source dates from website publication dates. A documented correction should identify the original table, corrected figures and change date; readers should consult the restaurant’s latest guide for any consequential decision.

Important: Nutrition values are informational estimates. Contact the restaurant for current nutrition and allergen disclosures. If you have medical nutrition needs, seek qualified advice.
