QDOBA Burrito vs Bowl: What the Tortilla Changes

Calculate the calories and sodium added by QDOBA’s large flour tortilla when identical fillings move from a bowl to a burrito.

A QDOBA bowl and burrito may use similar ingredients, but the large burrito tortilla is a meaningful part of the recipe. To compare formats accurately, keep the rice, beans, main protein and toppings exactly the same and add only the tortilla.

The tortilla's published values

QDOBA's November 2026 nutrition guide lists a 12.5-inch flour tortilla at 300 calories, 8 g protein, 52 g carbohydrate and 760 mg sodium. Those values should be included in the burrito version. A bowl has no tortilla in the ingredient arithmetic.

The modeled bowl is 565 calories; including the large flour tortilla raises that combination to 865 calories. The change in protein is 8 g and in sodium is 760 mg, reflecting the published tortilla entry. Real burritos sometimes use different amounts of fillings than bowls, so these totals are not a guarantee about packaged menu entrées.

What about tacos?

A smaller soft flour taco tortilla is listed at 70 calories per tortilla in this guide. An order using more than one tortilla must count them all. Likewise, chips or queso served alongside an entrée add their own values. The meaning of “burrito vs bowl calories” depends on which items you actually consume.

Is avoiding the tortilla always the right move?

No. Different people have different energy needs and food preferences. The defensible takeaway is simply that one large flour tortilla adds a defined amount of nutrients at the printed serving size. A well-filled bowl with extra cheese, guacamole and chips can still contain more calories than a simpler burrito.
